Securian Financial Group, Inc. is a mutual holding company that provides a range of financial products and services.
As part of an ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, the Securian Financial campus located in downtown Saint Paul has been consistently tackling recycling improvements over the past five years.
In 2018, Securian Financial worked towards a large scale roll-out of organics recycling. Previously only a few locations in the buildings had access to organics recycling.
How We Helped
Securian Financial received BizRecycling grant funding in 2016 to implement improved single stream recycling collections in common areas of the buildings, and was now able to take advantage of their remaining available funds to purchase compostable products for the cafeteria.
These additional initiatives are expected to increase the amount of organics recycling collection by about 18,000 pounds per year. “We have received very positive feedback regarding the compostable products in the cafeteria and continue to educate employees and associates about organics recycling and how to effectively participate,” said Julio Fesser, 2nd Vice President of Facilities Services at Securian Financial.
“The BizRecycling program were instrumental in making sure that we had the right tools to implement this project and help to educate the people who work and visit in these busy buildings,” added Fesser. The building management team at Cushman Wakefield and our recycling experts continue to work closely to ensure that more tenants take advantage of the organics recycling available to them and that any issues are addressed as soon as possible.
