Heights Plaza is a family-run shopping center offering a variety of restaurants and retail shops.
Heights Plaza is a retail center that houses a variety of businesses. The complex had no good options for recycling commonly produced items, such as cardboard, paper, plastic, glass, and metal. One of the businesses reached out to the Recycling Experts at BizRecycling for help changing that.
How We Helped
Our Recycling Experts connected the business owner with three haulers to get pricing for recycling services. The facility’s current hauler presented a solution that could cut monthly trash output and waste bills significantly.
Since the hauling arrangements were controlled by Heights Plaza, the business owner drafted a formal letter detailing why a new program would be beneficial and presented it to the board. The board voted to move forward with implementing the new program.
The businesses in Heights Plaza began participating in the new recycling program. Collectively, they are recycling an estimated 28,900 pounds of materials per year. Diverting so much recycling cut the trash output by more than 50 percent. This has reduced Heights Plaza’s waste bills by more than $2,200 every year.
The owners of Heights Plaza are more than satisfied with the results of the program. They are excited to see what new initiatives they can adopt to further reduce waste.
